Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
